Old friends
Bret challenged me last week to listen to more music while at home — for Natalie’s benefit. Well, it’s been a wonderful benefit to me also. Today, I was flipping through my overfull CD case and it felt like I was glancing at the faces of some old, dear friends whom I hadn’t chatted with in a long time.
I used to play music at the office all the time. I thrived on the background sounds, and I took a little pride in being able to pick just the right CDs for the mood I was in/the article I was trying to write.
Right now, I’m listening to five CDs on random in our relatively new CD player in the living room: Iron and Wine “Woman King,” Death Cab for Cutie “Transatlanticism,” Jack Johnson “On and On,” Flo Paris “Practice Room,” and Sufjan Stevens “Illinoise.”
Ah, speak to me dear friends…
