Sunny smiles

It's been a bit of a gloomy summer, in more ways than one. The fog has kept things cool (no complaints here) but may also be to blame for keeping us sick. From a vacation-canceling stomach issue to a lingering Kathleen-Turner-sounding sore throat and cough, the girls and I have been weathering more than our summer share of sickness. And we're not the only ones to be sicker than usual for the season -- lots of yuckiness seems to be going around...

But we're still managing to have a wonderful time with friends and family, with plenty of outdoor fun. Here are some photos to chase the gloom away.

Natalie shares one of the strawberries she picked herself at a farm in Arroyo Grande on June 29.

Natalie and best friend Hattie Miller enjoyed picking strawberries together.

It's hard to believe that Natalie and Hattie are old enough to push each other in a tire swing!

Naomi is proving herself to be quite the climber in training.

I tried to catch a candid shot of Naomi typing while sitting cross-legged, but she was on to me... Her big smile shows off her freshly chipped tooth. She fell forward while on my lap at a coffee shop (on June 25) and hit her tooth on the counter. Fortunately there was no blood or mark or bruise -- but when she calmed down and smiled at me, she revealed that about a quarter of her front tooth was missing! We took her to the dentist, who X-rayed her mouth and confirmed that everything was OK.

Natalie loves picking flowers, and here she shows off some poppies from our backyard. She's also showing off her special dress she picked out for a wedding we attended on July 3.

Naomi is getting closer and closer to being able to walk on her own. In the meantime, she's crazy about pushing things around, especially her baby doll in the toy stroller.

Thank you for posting more pictures. The girls are indeed growing up, too fast. I enjoy catching a glimpse of your lives and watching their progress. They are so precious.

I hope you will all start feeling better soon.

Much love and hugs to you all.
